There are so many types of cars on the market right now and a ton of cars that have come and gone over the years but the one that sticks out in my mind as one of the greatest with the richest history and largest following is the VW Beetle. The VW Beetle has actually been around for about seventy years. Very few cars can say that. The VW Beetle began the testing in the 1930’s and has been growing ever since. Germany did something right when they decided to develop the VW Beetle and could never have guessed that though cars had to get more expensive, fancier and faster as time went on the VW Beetle would stay true to its roots. Granted the VW Beetle has gone through some changes over te years but the Volkswagen company made sure that the VW Beetle never lost its charm and look over the years. The really cool thing is that though the VW Beetle has been here for nearly a century the new models actually look very similar to the model from the beginning.

The slight bits of contour of the VW Beetle have changed but the fact is that the shape of the VW Beetle has remained intact. Even during the years that all cars seemed to be as big as a battleship the VW Beetle stayed where it belongs in the tiny car area. The VW Beetle never gave in and at one point in the 1970’s the VW Beetle actually surpassed to longstanding leader in the automotive world and became the most popular car ever made.

I think that the VW Beetle was able to take that position because of the strong following that the VW Beetle has and has always had. The lovers of the VW Beetle name their cars and treat them as a friend. The cars seem to last forever so I guess the friends like to repay the owners by being a very reliable car. It is true that when you look at a VW Beetle you can actually see a face in the contours of the VW Beetle’s front end and headlights. There is actually a small voice that is heard when you walk up to a VW Beetle and a look that gleams at you. I cannot explain it but I can see it just as many of the VW Beetle owners. There are owners of a VW Beetle that just see it and treat it as a car and that is fine but there is something special about the group of VW Beetle enthusiasts that are in love with their VW Beetle. Nobody can fault them for that since we all have things we enjoy and for them it is their car. That many people cannot be wrong, the VW Beetle seems to have a soul and a personality. I have a feeling that we will be seeing the VW Beetle long into the future making its illustrious history an ongoing saga.
