Ashland High School Theatre Department provides students with the opportunity to perform comedies, dramas and musicals, in addition to theatre tech programs. Each year, the department produces 2 or 3 productions, in addition to special programs throughout the season.
The 2020-2021 school year presented a unique challenge since theater classes were unable to meet in person to practice or perform, and of course no public performances were allowed in person.
However, the show must go on! So Ashland High School Theatre opted to create an entirely online dramatic performance, which was performed live Nov 20—22, 2020. Plans for a spring 2021 performance are still under development.
Ashland High School theatre proudly presented CLUE, THE STAY-AT-HOME COMEDY, based upon the film and works by Jonathan Lynn, Hunter Foster, Eric Price and David Abbinanti. This production was deftly directed by Oregon Shakespeare Festival veteran Jonathan Luke Stevens.
CLUE, Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. Set in the 1950s, the tale begins at an ancient remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out... WHO did it, WHERE, and with what?
